Spotlight On: Amanda Seyfried and Her Dog Finn

June 20, 2014 A Doggy Tale

I’m not a big celebrity watcher. Maybe it’s because I live in Southern California and they are everywhere in these parts. Or maybe it’s because I know they’re just regular people, only with a few more opportunities than the rest of us.

But what I am a fan of is seeing celebrities who love their dogs as much as we love ours. And I especially love it when I come across someone famous who is obsessed with their dog like I am with Quinley.

So today we’re taking a look at Amanda Seyfried and her dog Finn.

Seyfried is an actress, singer and model most famous for her roles in Mean Girls, Mamma Mia, Dear John, Les Misérables and current release, A Million Ways to Die in the West. Aside from all the glitz and glamour of her life, from the minute she adopted her Australian Shepherd Finn, life for her has never been the same

Since bringing Finn into her life, the two are rarely apart as she tries to take him wherever she goes. He comes to the set with her when she’s shooting, hangs out on photo shoots, and he often waits backstage, (or not) while she’s being interviewed on talk shows.

Like me with our Quinley, Amanda freely admits her co-dependency with Finn. It’s nice to know that I’m really not that crazy, and that there are other people – even famous people – who are absolutely obsessed with their dogs too.

While Amanda is a lover of all animals, she even has cats, in a recent interview on The Ellen DeGeneres show, Seyfried explains why Finn has such a special place in her heart.

“He cuddles with me and he listens to me, and he loves me and he looks at me all the time, I mean…who wouldn’t want that?”

I wholeheartedly agree!

Four year old Finn also has some special talents. One, he’s a social media star with more Twitter followers than many of us regular folk have. I love his positive posts like “use twitter for good, not evil” and “if you don’t believe, you won’t receive” (with the hashtag christmasfinnspiration).

Finn writes about everything from his favorite celebrities (“Benedict Cumberbatch would be a great name for a dog”) to his feelings on the Olympics (“I had a “miracle on ice” once. And that’s all you need to know about that. #Sochi2014”), and has famous followers that include mamma’s boyfriend Justin Long and friend Mae Whitman.

But Finn’s real social media stardom comes from his frequent appearances on Amanda’s Instagram, where photos of him taking naps, playing on the beach, and posing in silly hats get tens of thousands of likes within hours.

Another talent the pup has is balancing all kinds of things on his head. You only need to view Seyfried’s Instagram feed to see his achievements.

He balances everything from chicks to jars of peanut butter to hamburgers, hold the cheese as he’s lactose intolerant.

And Seyfried has booked him in his first movie, which she could not share details on yet as the movie starts shooting in September. But it is a feature roll. So soon he will be an even bigger celebrity than he already is.

Celebrity or not we think Finn is one cool dude. And with a mamma who loves him as much as Amanda clearly does, Finn’s got a pretty darn good life. And we love that!

Thanks for stopping by!

Aww, Finn’s adorable! I always feel a little better when I know other people are as dog (and cat) crazy as I am, too! 🙂
